Who we are

PriceCheck ("we", "us", "our") is a trading name of Betts Electrical. We're based in Hampshire, UK. If you have questions about this policy, email us at hello@thetradepricechecker.co.uk.

What data we collect

When you use PriceCheck, we collect and process:

  • Account info — your name, trade type, and customer ID. We don't require your email address to use the service, but you may provide one for support.
  • Invoice data — PDF invoices you forward to us. These contain product names, catalogue numbers, quantities, prices, supplier names, and invoice reference numbers.
  • Comparison results — prices we find online for items on your invoices, stored in your dashboard.

We do not collect:

  • Payment card details (handled securely by Stripe)
  • Your location data
  • Cookies for tracking or advertising

Why we collect it

We use your data to:

  • Scan your invoices and compare prices
  • Show you overcharge reports on your dashboard
  • Generate credit note email drafts
  • Improve our price comparison accuracy

Legal basis: we process your data to perform the service you signed up for (GDPR Article 6(1)(b) — contractual necessity).

Who sees your data

Your invoice data is private to you. No other customer can see your invoices, prices, or dashboard. We don't sell, rent, or share your data with anyone, except:

  • Stripe — processes payments securely. See Stripe's privacy policy.
  • Netlify — hosts our website. See Netlify's privacy policy.

How we protect your data

  • All connections use HTTPS encryption
  • Dashboards are protected by unique customer IDs and access PINs
  • Invoice data is stored separately per customer
  • We don't store your payment details — Stripe handles that

How long we keep it

  • Active accounts: we keep your data for as long as your account is active.
  • After cancellation: we delete your invoice data and dashboard within 30 days of cancellation. We keep basic account records (name, signup date, cancellation date) for up to 12 months for accounting purposes.
  • Free trials: if you don't subscribe after your trial, we delete your data within 30 days of the trial ending.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Correction — ask us to fix any inaccurate data
  • Deletion — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
  • Object — object to how we use your data

To exercise any of these, email hello@thetradepricechecker.co.uk. We'll respond within 30 days.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll note the date at the top when changes are made.
